As we finally shake off the last of winter's chill, it’s time to brighten up our playlists with some of the best new releases that dropped in August. There’s no better way to welcome the warmer days ahead than by diving into fresh tracks from some of our favourite emerging artists. This month, we've discovered a few gems from Kiwi talent that are perfect for easing into the season.

Dani Josie – "Go Go Go"

Dani Josie’s "Go Go Go" is a wild ride through reckless desire and youthful impulsiveness. It’s got that nostalgic flair that feels like a mash-up of Lorde's introspective edge and Paramore's early 2000s rebelliousness. With lyrics like "Got a fever baby, when I see red I say GO GO GO" and "Guess I'm a sucker for the fast life," the song dives deep into the thrill of chasing danger, even when you know you shouldn't. Listening to it, you can almost picture yourself back in 2008, riding to school with Avril Lavigne blaring on the radio, feeling invincible and caught up in the moment. The track is both haunting and electrifying, perfect for those days when you’re ready to speed ahead with no brakes.

Coast Arcade – "Baited"

Known for their infectious summer vibes and pop-rock bangers, Coast Arcade takes a bold step with their latest release, "Baited." This track is a driving alt-rock anthem of self-empowerment, combining their signature pop hooks with a fresh twist of punk and angst. With gritty guitars and a powerful rhythm, "Baited" captures a newfound intensity that signals an exciting new era for the band. It’s a song that pulses with energy—perfect for blasting on a sun-soaked road trip or feeling the adrenaline at a live gig. Coast Arcade is riding a new wave, and "Baited" is just the beginning of their refreshed sound, blending catchy melodies with a rebellious edge that sticks with you long after the track ends.

Wet Denim – "The Why"

Pōneke-legends Wet Denim continue to carve their place in the indie scene with their new single, "The Why," from their upcoming EP On The Line, set to release on 27th September. The song’s driving rhythms, floating guitars, and commanding vocals explore themes of finding calmness amidst chaos. Wet Denim will be touring nationwide this October and November, offering fans the first chance to experience their new material live.

These tracks and upcoming releases showcase the diverse and evolving indie landscape in Aotearoa. Whether you're ready to soak up the sun or still shaking off the winter blues, these new releases will set the perfect tone for the warmer days ahead.
